Euro 2020 Games – Pre-tournament Favourites in Action

Euro 2020 is officially underway – finally! It’s been a long year and a long season, but it’s finally here!

After the COVID-19 epidemic forced the tournament to be postponed for a year, 24 countries will be fighting it out in the European championships between June 11th and July 11th 2021. It could not have come at a better time for betting on football online, as leagues across Europe ended in May.

Fans can bet on all group and knockout matches with Vwin, a top Asian betting and casino platform. This site offers multiple markets for sports betting, and plenty of casino options for the ultimate gamer.

The tournament kicked off in Rome with Turkey taking on hosts Italy in the first game, with the finals slated to be held in Wembley Stadium, London. There will be 49 games in all, with a good number of group games already played.

World champions France face 2014 winners Germany in Munich; as two of Europe’s footballing powerhouses go head to head in Group F. Defending European Champions Portugal will face Hungary in the other group tie.

Losing 2016 finalists France are favourites to go one better this time, and face a Germany team still searching for direction following a disastrous World Cup, with Joachim Low’s long tenure as manager coming to an end at the end of the campaign.

It would take a bold person to dismiss the Germans, who, despite their recent woes, reached the final of the 2008 edition, and the semis of the following finals, losing to France in the Euro 2016 final. On paper, though, Tuesday’s opponents, the current World Cup champions, provide a nightmare opener for Low’s team.

In the first Nations League campaign in 2018/19, the two sides met twice, with Germany securing a 0-0 draw at home. They meet again on Tuesday at the Allianz Arena, in one of the most anticipated ties of the tournament.

Tonight’s tie will be the first time the two teams have played in the group stages of a major tournament, with France clearly the favorites – but Germany goalkeeper Manuel Neuer believes otherwise.

“It is very important to start with a successful result. We know we owe the fans something after the last tournament. We hope to excite them with the way we will play and we need their support, “said Neuer.

“We know France has been successful in the past years. But we are still a very good team, uncomfortable to play against. We have respect for them but we don’t see ourselves as the underdogs. We want to win the game here in Munich.”

France vs Germany Team News

Leon Goretzka is still a possibility for Germany, having trained with his teammates in the last few days. Jonas Hofmann, a fellow midfielder, is expected to miss out, although France should have Karim Benzema fit after the 33-year-old got a scare during last week’s warm-up match against Bulgaria.

Portugal vs. Hungary Team News

Portugal coach Fernando Santos is without Manchester City defender Joao Cancelo, who tested positive for coronavirus just days before the tournament kick-off. However, he has Diogo Dalot as a ready replacement, fresh off Portugal U21s’ run to their own European Championship final. The hosts will be without midfielder Zsolt Kalmar.
