Summer transfer window: Mazraoui, Ivan Perišić, Nuno Mendes, Erling Haaland

Transfers of the summer

Bayern signed Ajax defender.

The right-back Noussair Mazraoui is Bayern’s first summer newcomer, having transferred from Ajax on a free agent basis. The Moroccan is a youngster of the club from Amsterdam, having a record of 10 goals and 9 assists for Ajax in 136 games. Mazraoui has not played outside of the Netherlands yet, but now he will try. Noussair is not the only one who will move from Amsterdam to Munich during this transfer window. Midfielder Ryan Gravenberg is one step away from transferring to Bayern, and Sebastian Aller is on the list of forwards to replace Robert Lewandowski.

Ivan Perišić has joined Tottenham.

Perišić has taken trophies with every club in the top leagues: he started at Borussia Dortmund and continued at Wolfsburg, Bayern and Inter, which he left as a free agent at the end of the 2021/22 season. The Milan club expressed regret but admitted his desire to play in the English Premier League under Antonio Conte. Perisic became Tottenham’s first summer signing. Spurs are obvious and distinct in their willingness to break their streak without a trophy of nearly a decade and a half. Ivan should help in this challenging mission.

PSG has bought out Nuno Mendes for €40m.

Young Portuguese defender Nuno Mendes, who will be 20 this month, spent last season in Paris on loan from Sporting. The French champions were happy to have him on loan, appearing in 37 games and playing more than 2,000 minutes. Mendes earned a complete contract with PSG until 2026, and Kylian Mbappe approved 40 million euros in compensation.

Borussia Dortmund already has seven officially confirmed newcomers.

Dortmund signed two goalkeepers to replace the Roman Bürki and Marwin Hitz: Alexander Meier (SSV Jahn Regensburg) and Marcel Lotka (Hertha BSC) will try to win the race against Gregor Kobel. Second, they snatched another talented Jaden from Man City’s academy: 19-year-old winger Braaf will try to repeat the path of Sancho.

Five-time Bundesliga winner Niklas Süle joined Borussia on loan from Bayern Munich, and he should be an essential man in defense. Saleh Özkan came from Cologne for 5 million, while Freiburg paid four times as much for Niko Schlotterbeck. And the main summer acquisition, of course, is Karim Adeyemi. They gave 30 million euros for Adeyemi, but Salzburg should also get numerous bonuses if he performs well.

Erling Haaland goes to Manchester City for €75m.

With Kylian Mbappe staying at PSG, it is now clear which transfer is this summer’s main one. Indirectly Mbappe influenced Haaland’s fate because had the Frenchman announced his decision to stay in Paris earlier, Real Madrid would have been more assertive in negotiations with Holand. The Norwegian, who has outgrown Borussia, accepted Manchester City’s offer. He will try not to lose his best qualities in the team of Josep Guardiola, whose relations with the center-forwards are very specific.
